    2,6-Dichloropyrazine (1 g, 6.7 mmol) was vigorously stirred in ethanol (10 mL) and hydrazine hydrate (0.33 mL, 340 mg, 6.7 mmol) was added. The resulting mixture was heated at 100 ˚C for 16 h. After completion solvent was removed under vacuum to yield a crude orange solid (1.1012 mg, 6.5 mmol, 110% crude yield). An NMR of the product was taken, and suggested that there was significant amount of starting materials still present. Hydrazine hydrate (0.33 mL, 340 mg, 6.7 mmol) and ethanol (10 mL) was added, and the mixture was heated at 100˚C for 21 h. Once completed solvent was removed under vacuum to yield a crude orange solid (1.37904 mg, 6.5 mmol, 138% yield) and an NMR was taken and a TLC in potassium permanganate was also done.
