Experiment start time: 11:30 am, 10/09/2012
4-(Thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)morpholine (100.3 mg, 0.453 mmol, 1 equiv.) was dissolved in THF (10 mL) and stirred at -78 °C. n-BuLi (0.18 mL) was added dropwise to yield a deep red solution. Stirred for 0.5 hr. Bromine (0.1 mL, 1.9 mmol, 4 equiv.) was added dropwise. thereafter stirred at rt overnight. extracted with water (5 mL) and ethyl acetate (70 mL). washed with sodium thiosulfate until colourless. organic layer washed with water and brine and then concentrated in vacuo to yield an orange solid (122.3 mg).

When you use a S/M remember to indicate where it came from each time. i.e. which sample you've used.

Yes. That's a mistake on my behalf. I sometimes jot down the reactants that I've used and then come back later to edit. I've clearly missed this one.

I'm conscious that we're both looking through my lab book at the same time (it seems). I'm just tidying it up now. Characterisation is lacking around here and I'm aware of that.

Is this the bromo-product?? JRC18-1, JRC18-2 and JRC18-4 are the iodo products. Data attached in this post seeing as it's not here. How did you purify this as the original 1H and 13C ran on the 300 are very dirty but the 1H you've ran on the 200 looks good

Obviously, since the title, image and procedure indicate that bromine was used.

this compound appears in my thesis, which im assuming you still have. you can search for the procedure there, and the spectra will be in the folder i gave to you.

Note the date: this entry was made when my laptop broke down before my thesis writing time.
